Panna cotta is a delicious Italian dessert made using milk, cream and sugar with some gelatin to thicken it. We could give extra flavor to the panna cotta by mixing suitable essence. In this recipe, we shall see how to make a delicious "Coffee Panna cotta".
*INGREDIENTS*
- Milk (50 ml hot)
- Milk (60 ml cold)
- Espresso Coffee (150 ml)
- Heavy Cream (450 ml)
- Gelatin (8 gm)
- Icing sugar (100 gm)
- Vanilla essence (1/2 tspn)
*PROCEDURE*
- Take a bowl of cold milk and add the gelatin powder to it. Stir them well and keep aside. After 5 to 10 minutes, you could notice the gelatin forming thick layers. This is called as "Blooming".
- In an another bowl make the espresso coffee and allow it to cool.
- Now mix the espresso coffee with the heavy cream and icing sugar. Bring them to boil in a Medium-Low heat.
- Then take the hot liquid from the stove and add the bloomed gelatin with milk and stir them well.
- NOTE: The gelatin has the tendency to form lumps. So, stir them continuously till all the gelatin is mixed completely. There should be no lumps in the liquid mixture, otherwise our Panna cotta too will be lumpy.
- If you find any lumps in the liquid mixture even after stirring, then heat the liquid again in medium-low heat and stir them till all the lumps are dissolved.
- Now remove the liquid from the stove and add the vanilla essence to it. Now your Panna cotta mixture is ready.
- You could pour this mixture into a glass bowl or in a pudding bowl or glass cup, anything you wish.
- This recipe comes to around 7 to 8 glasses depending on the type of glass you use. So equally divide the Panna cotta mixture in the glasses and keep them inside the refrigerator for about 4 to 5 hours.
- The consistency of the Panna cotta should be non-sticky, firm and soft. You can add a table spoon of espresso coffee above them, after taking out of the refrigerator, to make it look more appetizing.
- You could even decorate them with the chocolate strips or chocolate chips or even use piped chocolate designs.
- You could even just pour the chocolate ganache over the top and have a delicious chocolate-coffee dessert.
