Poached Pear is a very delicious dessert, and you could make it for your family, as a dinner dessert or as a lunch dessert. Its simple to make and tasty to eat. A dessert made of fruit is even healthier. We could have Poached Pear with "Creamy-Whipped cream", with "Whitey-Vanilla Ice cream", with "Chocolate sauce" or with "Strawberry sauce".
Here i have given you the recipe for making a HONEY POACHED PEAR.So,first lets note the ingredients and then follow the procedure.
*INGREDIENTS*
POACHING PEAR:
- Good shaped Pear
- Water (4 cups)
- Honey (1/3 cup)
- Granular sugar (1/3 cup)
- Ginger (4 inch piece)
- Cloves (5 pieces)
- 1 Star anise
- 1 Cinnamon stick broken into half.
- Heavy cream (250 ml)
- Vanilla essence (1/4 tspn)
- Powdered sugar (2 tspn)
*PROCEDURE*
- Take a pot and add water, honey and sugar. Bring it to boil and allow the sugar and honey to dissolve in water thoroughly.
- Now add ginger, cloves, cinnamon stick and star anise to the water. Allow the water to boil.
- In the mean time take your pear and scrape out its skin. Be careful not to pluck the stock of the pear as it gives lovely presentation.
- Now using a small spoon scoop out the bottom, so that the spicy water can infuse into the pear from bottom also, and reach its inner portions. By this way your pear becomes more juicy.
- Slip these pears into the liquid and bring the heat to medium - low.
- Cover and cook for 20 to 30 minutes till they can be pierced using a fork. The fork should be inserted easily into the pear without any difficulty. Don't pork too much,it may cause the pear to break, as it is hollow in the middle portion.
- Once your pear is ready, hold the stick of the pear and pull them out of the liquid, and place them on a plate allowing them to cool.
- Now pour your liquid into a wide pan and simmer it for 30 minutes, so that it could be reduced and made into a thick liquid.
- Once the Spicy honey sauce is ready, pour it over the pear and decorate them, or you could have them in a separate bowl and pour it over the pear when you serve it.
FOR THE WHIPPED CREAM:
- Take the 250 ml heavy cream and combine them with sugar and vanilla essence, and beat them continuously for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Timing of mechanized beater differ from hand beater.Beat this mixture till you get a stiff peak like this( in the picture) in your beater.
- Now your whipped cream is ready. Use your own imagination to decorate your delicious dessert. So just play with them. You could pipe them over the pear, or just have them in the side and use it as a dip.
- You could even add nuts like almonds and pistachios sprinkled over the pear to give its classy presentation.
NOTE:
1. You could add red wine with water instead of honey to make "WINE POACHED PEAR". If you like the taste of the wine, then you could try one.
2. If you do not want you pear in one piece, then cut them into half and but them into water to boil. But, don't forget to scoop the bottom of the pear.
