PYRAMIDS & MUMMIES.. SOME MYSTICAL FACTS.

• Pyramids were built about 4500 years ago. Some still stand strong making it one among the "Seven Wonders of the World".
• A known fact is that, the Pyramids are huge tombs for the Pharaohs of Egypt, but the mystical fact is that these were built to align with the POLE STAR in the north, with each face pointing exactly north, south, east and west.
• The most famous site is at Giza, which is made up of three large pyramids, the "GREAT PYRAMIDS" largest among all was 147 m high when first built.
• The Pharaohs were mummified before placing inside the tomb. This mummification process is done by a group of people called EMBALMERS.
• The embalmers would remove all the inner organs except the heart and place them in special jars known as the "CANOPIC JARS", which was buried along with the dead person.
• The dead body is packed with salt, sand and spices, and rubbed with oil, wine and resin before wrapping it in layers of long linen bandages.

                    

• The mummified body is placed inside a brightly colored coffin, painted with the "Images of the Dead Person", so that the spirit would recognize itself in afterlife.
• It was believed that painting images from the "BOOK OF DEAD" , a Book of magic spells would help the mummy on its journey to the afetrlife.
• This coffin is placed inside a huge stone case called as "SACROPHAGUS", along with the treasures the pharaoh would need in afterlife.
• Many tombs were plundered by thieves, but that of king Tutankhamun , lay undisturbed for over 3300 years before the archaeological discovery in 1922.
